Supporting Our Customers in Embracing a Sustainable Lifestyle

At Nordea, we are dedicated to assisting our personal customers in transitioning towards a more sustainable future. With a focus on homes, savings, and daily banking, our aim is to empower our millions of customers to make environmentally friendly and socially responsible choices.

In 2023, 43% of our personal customers expressed a preference for sustainable investments. Taking this into account, we have been working to offer products and services that are not only less harmful to the environment but also economically viable. Our goal is to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable future for everyone.

Sara Mella, Head of Personal Banking, emphasizes that the interest in making a positive ESG impact through savings remains strong among customers. The ESG share of gross inflows into funds has risen to 34%, indicating the growing interest in sustainable financial products. To further support this, we have expanded our sustainability-linked product offerings and now offer the Nora digital savings adviser to help kickstart children’s savings through ESG-balanced funds in our Nordic markets.

In addition to digital solutions, our customers can also expect increased support from our advisers. We believe that by providing the necessary information, sustainable products like sustainable funds will naturally become the preferred choice for most customers. Our advisers are well-trained in ESG matters and are equipped to assist customers in making sustainable decisions about their finances.

A key aspect of our sustainable offerings is the availability of sustainable funds for personal savings and pensions in all markets. The Stars Funds, for example, consist of companies with well-managed ESG profiles, selected through a combination of ESG analysis, company dialogues, thematic research, engagement, and field trips.

When it comes to sustainable living, we also offer green mortgages in Sweden and Norway for homes that meet energy criteria. Moreover, energy loans are available in all countries to finance various sustainable renovation activities, such as the installation of solar cells, energy-efficient heating systems, windows, and insulation.

In support of the transition to electric vehicles, we provide electric car loans in Denmark and Sweden. To learn more about the sustainable offerings available in each country, customers can visit the local Nordea website for Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

As we continue to focus on sustainability, our commitment to providing environmentally conscious and socially responsible products and services remains unwavering. Our goal is to support our customers in embracing a sustainable lifestyle while contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
