FlexEnable, a prominent developer and provider of flexible organic electronics for active optics and displays, has achieved a remarkable milestone by introducing groundbreaking flexible display technology to the mass market. The company has officially announced the commencement of customer shipments for the world’s first mass-produced consumer product that integrates organic transistor technology.
The device, known as Ledger Stax, is a secure crypto wallet developed by the renowned French company and market leader, Ledger. What sets Ledger Stax apart is its credit card-sized design, which features an E Ink display uniquely wrapped around a 180-degree bend. This unprecedented display curvature in an e-paper product has been made possible through highly flexible organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs), which were developed and supplied by FlexEnable.
A partnership with display manufacturing companies DKE (Shanghai) and Giantplus (Taiwan) has brought Ledger’s visionary product to fruition. The manufacturing of these flexible OTFT backplanes by Giantplus has paved the way for a new era of flexible displays and optical modules, offering form factors previously unimaginable for a range of applications such as AR/VR optics, ePrivacy screens, automotive smart windows, and Organic LCDs.
