Apple has once again attracted attention, this time with reports of a potential ‘skinnier’ iPhone 17 variant in development. The recent Let Loose event witnessed the unveiling of the tech giant’s thinnest ever iPad Pro model. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly working on similar designs for the iPhone 17, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch.
Anticipation for a thinner iPhone 17 model has been growing, with speculations pointing towards a potential launch in 2025. Gurman’s report also suggested a similar redesign for the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch, although an official release date was not specified.
A previous report had hinted at the possibility of the Apple Watch X undergoing a major overhaul, featuring a thinner design and potential magnetic attachments for easy band swapping. Gurman also highlighted Apple’s intention for the iPad Pro to kickstart a new line of ultra-thin and lightweight devices, setting a new standard in the tech industry.
Analysts Jeff Pu and Ross Young have echoed Gurman’s claim, with Pu even proposing the discontinuation of the iPhone 17 Plus variant in favour of a slimmer version. It is expected that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, and iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a more intricate aluminium design, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max may retain its titanium body.
In terms of performance, Pu predicts that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim will feature 8GB of RAM and run on the A18 or A19 bionic chipset. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are likely to boast 12GB of RAM and the A19 Pro chipset. Additionally, the iPhone 17 series is speculated to feature a significant upgrade in its front-facing camera, potentially leaping from 12MP to 24MP.
As the rumour mill buzzes with excitement over Apple’s alleged plans for a ‘skinnier’ iPhone 17 and other product variants, tech enthusiasts and consumers eagerly await further updates from the Cupertino-based company.
