The charming coastal town of Hunstanton has solidified its reputation as a destination for culinary enthusiasts, following the success of its second annual food and drink festival. The event, orchestrated by deli proprietor and advocate of Norfolk produce, Mark Kacary, attracted a substantial crowd to the bustling Hunstanton High Street last Sunday, further enhanced by the rare appearance of the sun, adding to the festive ambiance.
Despite encountering inclement weather during its debut in March, the town’s foodie festival proved to be a resounding success this time around, with attendees relishing in complimentary samples and the opportunity to procure goods from a diverse array of artisan producers. Mr. Kacary expressed contentment with the weather and the impressive turnout, noting that “This time on the High Street you could barely see down through to the other end”.
The festival showcased a range of local vendors exhibiting their offerings, such as Jesse Plunkett-Hall from the Norfolk Chili Farm, who captivated visitors with an array of piquant chilli creations. Additionally, Karen and Kevin Woodruff from KK Bees in Old Catton were kept occupied as visitors sought out their locally-produced honey. The event also witnessed a favourable reception for various other products, including craft beers from the Duration Brewery, cider from Norfolk Raider Cider, and confectionery from So Sweet, rendering patrons spoilt for choice.
Hunstanton’s mayor, Mike Ruston, commended the success of the festival, accentuating its constructive influence in promoting the town. “Look down the High Street on any Sunday from afternoon onwards and it’s usually pretty bleak,” he reflected. “We’ve filled it and that’s the name of the game, promoting the town.”
