NextChem Tech to Play Key Role in Hail and Ghasha Project

The Hail and Ghasha project, a venture that was awarded to Tecnimont (MAIRE’s Integrated E&C Solutions) by ADNOC in October 2023 for a total value of US$8.7 billion, is considered one of the most crucial global initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of the energy processing industry. The main goal of the project is to operate with net zero CO2 emissions, and NextChem Tech will play a crucial role in achieving this by developing recovery units that will capture and store 1.5 million tons per year of CO2. This is a significant contribution to ADNOC’s commitment to decarbonise its operations.

NextChem Tech’s responsibilities will include the preliminary design packages for the raw gas compression station, dehydration and separation unit, CO2 compression station, and other related facilities, all of which will be based on high-quality technologies and solutions.

Leveraging its expertise in decarbonisation, NextChem Tech will also assist Tecnimont by providing critical equipment and developing detailed engineering designs for the hydrogen and CO2 recovery section. The contract is valued at approximately US$60 million.

Alessandro Bernini, CEO of MAIRE, expressed his confidence in the project, stating that it highlights the group’s integrated approach and its ability to support customers in various decarbonisation solutions. He emphasized that NextChem’s unique competencies will be pivotal in working on this innovative global project, with a focus on implementing solutions to reduce emissions and optimize energy consumption, resulting in significant efficiency improvements in terms of OPEX and CAPEX.
