Celtic Financial Planning, a finance business headquartered in Mold, has recently made a significant commitment to sustainability by enrolling in the Green Digital Academy. This initiative, led by Busnes@LlandrilloMenai, aims to provide small businesses with the resources and knowledge necessary to implement carbon reduction practices as part of the ongoing efforts to combat climate change.
Established in 2018, Celtic Financial Planning has consistently taken its social and environmental responsibilities seriously and is deeply dedicated to its local community. With a strong commitment to sustainability, company director Robert Lewis made the decision to participate in the Green Digital Academy as a means to further their journey towards greater environmental consciousness. The programme aligns perfectly with the business’s objectives of being an environmentally conscious firm.
Mr. Lewis stated, “The programme has been incredibly beneficial for us as a company. Oftentimes, you don’t know what you don’t know, so working with an independent consultant who is an expert in the field to evaluate our business and provide advice has been invaluable. Thanks to the support, we have been able to review our five-year carbon reduction plan and access funding, which has enabled us to implement the recommendations put forward through the programme.”
Busnes@LlandrilloMenai is an integral part of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, dedicated to offering training and support specifically tailored to businesses. Through this particular project, the primary goal is to help business owners comprehend the concept of net zero and take action to meet the rising consumer demand for environmentally-friendly products and services. It is anticipated that the participation in the Green Digital Academy will not only lead to a reduction in production costs and improved efficiency but also to increased profits.
Donna Hodgson, the Regional Project Manager at Busnes@LlandrilloMenai, underscored the importance of collaborating with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Denbighshire, Flintshire, and Conwy to guide them in their efforts to achieve net zero targets. She stated, “We understand that it can be a challenge, and knowing where to start is often difficult. With our support, businesses can access advice and funding to put them on the right track. There has already been a significant level of interest in the project, but we still have some spaces left. I would urge anyone who wishes to sign up to get in touch as soon as possible so we can help them assess what they can do to reduce carbon in a way that benefits their business and the environment.”
As a result of the advice and support received through the programme, Celtic Financial Planning now has a comprehensive plan and funding in place, and looks forward to building on their carbon zero status in the future. The Green Digital Academy is made possible through a £1.4 million grant from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
