Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi recently convened with a delegation from the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) to reaffirm his dedication to backing educated and vocationally trained female entrepreneurs in the province. Throughout the meeting, Governor Kundi underscored the importance of offering business prospects to skilled women, stressing their financial independence and economic empowerment. He commended the WCCI for their initiatives in advancing women’s involvement in business, trade, and vocational entrepreneurship, assuring them of full cooperation to foster prosperity in the province.
Anila Khalid, Vice President of WCCI, conveyed her appreciation to the Governor for his support and also petitioned for land allocation for the women’s chamber, connections with other provinces and foreign contributors, and initiatives for the development of women in KP. The delegation, comprising several chamber office bearers, deliberated on the hurdles faced by women entrepreneurs and the potential opportunities for expansion and progress in the province.
In a separate event, a three-member delegation headed by former World Champion of Squash, Jan Sher Khan, convened with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to deliberate on the advancement of Squash and other sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Governor Kundi underscored the significance of sports in shaping the youth, highlighting the values of mental agility, patience, discipline, and tolerance. He also acknowledged KP’s noteworthy contributions in producing world-class athletes in various sports, including squash, cricket, and hockey, and stressed the importance of promoting sports in the region.
Governor Kundi expressed concern regarding the deteriorated state of the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, stating that the rehabilitation work, which commenced in 2017, remained unfinished. He also highlighted the absence of first-class cricket matches in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past 15 years. Furthermore, Governor Kundi addressed the budget allocations for higher education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing a significant disparity compared to the budgeting in Sindh province.
