Discover Your Moment: JEM’s Revolutionary Face Recognition Technology

The commemoration of Gimmel Tammuz signifies an extraordinary opportunity to revisit a cherished personal encounter with the Rebbe, a truly invaluable gift. Numerous individuals have been fortunate enough to enjoy a personal interaction with the Rebbe, capturing these moments in photographs. JEM is honoured to introduce a groundbreaking face recognition technology that will provide unprecedented access to the extensive collection of over half a million photos of interactions with the Rebbe.

The delight of unexpectedly discovering a previously unseen snapshot of a personal moment is truly a special experience, and this is precisely what JEM’s new technology aims to facilitate. Through the introduction of face recognition on JEM’s photo archive website, users will be able to easily upload a photo and scan the extensive archives to find similar faces. With countless photos of personal interactions with the Rebbe already available on the website, the potential for discovery is immense.

The process is uncomplicated:
1. Locate a clear photo of yourself or a family member from the time they were with the Rebbe.
2. Upload the photo to https://photos.jemedia.org/face-recognition.
3. The system will then promptly scan hundreds of thousands of photos on the website and display the results that most closely match the uploaded photo.
4. Users can then share the results with family members or order a copy of the photo via the website. Additionally, video stills are also included in this search, and encounters captured on video are available for purchase as well.

This cutting-edge feature is part of JEM’s ongoing mission to bring individuals closer to the Rebbe. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, JEM is able to provide an unparalleled level of accessibility to its treasured archives, allowing users to uncover personal connections to the Rebbe that they may have been unaware of.

The development of this remarkable feature has been the result of diligent work by the JEM tech team over the past year, with a focus on fine-tuning its accuracy and user-friendliness. Although it is still a work in progress, JEM is excited to offer it to the public in honour of Gimmel Tammuz.

Following the launch, the feature will be accessible to everyone for one month, after which it will become an exclusive benefit for JEM Members.

To ensure transparency, it must be noted that the current face recognition feature still has some limitations. The number of results and the comprehensiveness of the photo database are still being improved, with updates expected to be rolled out in later versions. While it is not yet 100% accurate, JEM is committed to continuously refining the technology and expanding its photo database.

Acknowledgement is extended to the numerous individuals who have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition. Special thanks are offered to Motti Hazan and Memke Schmukler from the archive team, as well as Levi Naki and Levik Shmotkin from the Product and Design team. Additionally, recognition is given to Elchonon Korenblit and the entire technology team, along with Rabbis Elkanah Shmotkin and Mendel Gourarie for their vision and leadership.

JEM remains dedicated to sharing the Rebbe with all, and this new feature is a testament to its commitment. JEM is enthusiastic about the possibilities this feature offers and is looking forward to helping more individuals deepen their connection to the Rebbe.
