Daphne Technology, a leading innovator in environmental technology, has recently received Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register (LR) for its revolutionary SlipPure™ system. This cutting-edge technology is designed to decrease methane slip emissions in the maritime and land-based oil and gas industries, representing a significant step forward in environmental sustainability.
The SlipPure™ system, previously granted AiP for its plasma-only configuration, has now been approved for its full Plasma-Catalytic process. It has undergone comprehensive testing using exhaust gas from a land-based test engine at the Maritime Center of the University of Applied Science in Germany. The system has delivered impressive results, achieving a 62% reduction in methane slip at 75% load and removing 4.0 g/kWh of methane from exhaust gas at temperatures as low as 380 °C. These findings attest to the effectiveness and reliability of the SlipPure™ system.
Methane slip is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, with a global warming potential 28 times greater than that of CO2 over a 100-year period. Daphne Technology’s innovative approach and the promising results witnessed during testing underscore the potential impact of the SlipPure™ system in reducing methane emissions.
In response to the AiP, Dr Mario Michan, CEO and Founder of Daphne Technology, expressed his gratitude for the close collaboration with Lloyd’s Register. He stated, “This approval in principle validates our innovative approach, and the results witnessed are a testament to the effectiveness and reliability of our SlipPure™ system. The performance results demonstrate our technology’s readiness for market deployment and its impact on reducing methane emissions.”
Panos Mitrou, Lloyd’s Register Global Gas Segment Director, also praised the recent testing and results, acknowledging that Daphne Technology’s Plasma-Catalytic technology is establishing a new standard in mitigating methane slip.
LR’s recognition of the SlipPure™ system represents a significant achievement for Daphne Technology, highlighting the company’s dedication to developing sustainable solutions for the industry. The AiP serves as validation of the effectiveness of the Plasma-Catalytic technology, further strengthening Daphne Technology’s position as a leader in environmental innovation.
With the increasingly urgent need for sustainable technologies in the oil and gas industry, Daphne Technology’s Approval in Principle for its groundbreaking SlipPure™ system represents a pivotal advancement towards reducing methane emissions and promoting environmental stewardship in the sector.
