A prominent Tier 1 North American grocery retailer has recently made a significant advancement in the realm of retail technology. The retailer, whose identity remains undisclosed, has entered into a substantial 90 million Swedish Krona (MSEK) agreement with Pricer’s partner, JRTech Solutions. This deal entails the acquisition of Pricer Plaza, a cloud-based platform that facilitates in-store automation and communication, for implementation in the retailer’s initial 50 locations.
The deployment of Pricer Plaza and electronic shelf labels in these 50 stores is slated for completion by the conclusion of 2024. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it will represent the first large-scale full-store deployment of four-colour labels in North America.
Mats Arnehall, the Chief Commercial Officer at Pricer, expressed enthusiasm regarding the trust bestowed upon them by the leading retailer. He underscored the dedication to revolutionizing the retail experience through state-of-the-art technology aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The Pricer team eagerly anticipates offering assistance to the retailer as they embark on their digital transformation journey.
Diego Mazzone, the President & CEO at JRTech Solutions, highlighted the extensive efforts undertaken over the past year to demonstrate the value, capability, and scalability of Pricer technology. This effort included the transformation of the client’s promotional business rules and the provision of ongoing and future operational efficiencies through the utilization of SmartTAG four-colour labels.
The value of this agreement does not encompass Pricer Plaza and technical support, and will be reflected in Pricer’s order intake for the second quarter of 2024.
This momentous development in the retail industry indicates a significant stride towards integrating advanced technology to enhance the overall shopping experience. Retailers are increasingly turning to innovative solutions to streamline operations and improve customer satisfaction, and this initiative by the North American grocery retailer is an unmistakable sign of the industry’s trajectory towards digital transformation.
As we gaze into the future, it will be intriguing to witness the unfolding of this partnership and the impact it will have on the retail landscape in North America and beyond. We encourage you to stay tuned for further updates on this groundbreaking collaboration between Pricer, JRTech Solutions, and the Tier 1 North American grocery retailer.
