Ilika Plc, a prominent leader in the field of solid-state battery technology, has recently announced the dispatch of its first group of prototype Goliath batteries to a tier 1 automotive company for the purpose of conducting tests.
Earlier in May 2024, Ilika had commenced internal testing of its P1 Goliath prototype batteries as part of a program funded by a client. The company has now successfully delivered its initial P1 battery batch to the client for external validation.
In November 2023, Ilika achieved the D4 development milestone, a significant accomplishment in the Goliath roadmap that forms the basis for the P1 prototype. This prototype, featuring a solid-state pouch cell with an NMC cathode and a silicon anode, represents a transitional phase towards the anticipated minimum viable product (“MVP”) set for launch in 2025.
As stated in the company’s previous annual results, Ilika has proficiently produced and tested batches of P1 pouch cells based on the D4 development point and is currently engaged in various commercial programs with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 companies.
Ilika is actively advancing along its roadmap towards the MVP in CY25. The Goliath MVP, or P2 prototypes, will create opportunities for licensing. Further information regarding the product curve and development points can be found on page 11 of the Company’s 2023 Annual Report.
Graeme Purdy, CEO of Ilika, expressed his contentment with the progress, stating, “Following the promising results from our P1 test programme, we are pleased to be conducting commercially sponsored evaluation trials with a range of interested OEMs and Tier 1 companies.”
