The report from DSV Road, a prominent entity in the freight transport sector, has disclosed that the automotive, FMCG, healthcare, tech & electronics, and fashion industries have made notable contributions to the import-export activities in Romania during the initial six months of 2024.

Daniel Babii, the Business Development Director at DSV Road, emphasized the stability and growth within these sectors despite market challenges. The automotive industry, in particular, witnessed a significant surge in demand for transportation services, resulting in a 25% increase in DSV Road’s portfolio. FMCG, healthcare, tech & electronics, and fashion industries also played pivotal roles in the transportation solutions, with each contributing 20% and 15% respectively. According to Babii, the dynamism and sustained demand growth in these sectors call for flexible and efficient logistics and transportation solutions.

The report also indicated a positive trend in the agriculture sector, with escalated shipments of cereals, vegetables, fruit, and agricultural machinery for export during the initial months of the year.

Regarding Romania’s road freight shipments, the most vital destinations were Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, according to DSV Road.

Despite the positive export-import structure, Romania currently grapples with a trade deficit, importing more goods and services than it exports, across all industries. However, the report unveiled a 22% increase in export activity in the first two months of 2024, propelled by the international firms’ development of manufacturing in various sectors, particularly automotive and electronics. Additionally, the expansion of the highway network, business potential, and the quality of Romanian products are key factors that can significantly contribute to export growth.

Looking ahead, DSV Road maintains an optimistic outlook for 2024 and anticipates substantial growth in existing industries, with the potential for emerging sector expansion. The company foresees a 10% turnover increase compared to the previous year.

As part of the DSV group, DSV Road is a key player in the transportation and logistics industry in Romania, offering a comprehensive range of services in road, air, sea, and rail transportation. The company is also dedicated to environmental sustainability, with the implementation of green transport services and sustainability programmes aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

In conclusion, the report from DSV Road illuminates the robust performance of key industries propelling Romania’s import-export structure in the first half of 2024. Despite market challenges and a trade deficit, the automotive, FMCG, healthcare, tech & electronics, and fashion industries remain resilient and influential contributors to the country’s import-export activities. With promising forecasts for the upcoming year, DSV Road is well-equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of the transportation and logistics industry in Romania.
