An enterprising business owner in Edinburgh has been nominated for the esteemed Great British Entrepreneur Awards due to his innovative approach in aiding individuals to manage the estates of deceased persons without the need for costly legal assistance.
Mike Davis, a former employee of a small legal auditing firm, was inspired to establish My Probate Partner after witnessing numerous individuals pay exorbitant fees for legal services that they could handle with the right guidance.
In 2019, he founded My Probate Partner to provide individuals with the necessary support and guidance to independently navigate the administrative process of probate with minimal stress, cost, and delay. This initiative offers a middle-ground solution between entirely independent management and hiring a lawyer.
Over the past five years, My Probate Partner has empowered over 650 families to handle estates worth over £150 million, earning a superb 5-star rating for its personalised approach. The company offers a dedicated online client portal, comprehensive resources and checklists, and expert customer support.
With the aim of expanding the platform into a consumer website similar to ‘Money Saving Expert’ specifically for probate in Scotland, My Probate Partner has experienced an impressive 160% growth in the past year.
Mike Davis’ innovative and client-focused approach has earned him a nomination for ‘Family Business Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the prestigious Great British Entrepreneur Awards, often referred to as the ‘Grammys’ of entrepreneurship. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 18, 2024.
Expressing his gratitude for being shortlisted, Mike Davis stated: “Over the last five years, we have worked incredibly hard to help hundreds of individuals and families quickly and effectively manage the often complicated and costly probate process, saving time, money and stress at a challenging time.”
With plans underway to further enhance the platform, he looks forward to the awards ceremony and wishes the best of luck to all the other finalists.
This year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards shortlist comprises businesses with a combined turnover of nearly £2.9 billion and approximately 20,000 employees, underscoring the critical role of these businesses in driving economic growth and innovation.
