INEOS Automotive Partners with RNLI to Enhance Lifesaving Operations at Sea

INEOS Automotive is pleased to announce a recent five-year partnership with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to support the charity’s essential search and rescue missions across the UK and Ireland. As part of this collaboration, INEOS will supply the RNLI with Grenadier vehicles to aid in their lifesaving operations.

The highly acclaimed 4X4 vehicle, the Grenadier, will play a crucial role in meeting the demanding needs of the RNLI’s frontline work. These vehicles will be deployed at various locations to assist RNLI volunteers in launching lifeboats and aiding those in distress at sea. The primary function of the Grenadier Station Wagons will be to position, launch, and recover the RNLI’s D-class lifeboats at selected stations.

According to Jamie Chestnutt, RNLI Director for Engineering and Supply, the collaboration with INEOS Automotive perfectly aligns with the ethos of both organizations. The support from INEOS Automotive will enable the RNLI to continue its lifesaving work at sea and provide operational volunteers with the best equipment available. The partnership signifies a significant endorsement of the Grenadier’s capability to meet the rigorous standards required for such vital frontline work.

The decision to select the Grenadier was based on its superior off-road and on-road performance, as well as its robustness to withstand challenging conditions faced by RNLI volunteers during their missions. This partnership not only provides immediate support to the RNLI but also opens doors for future technological collaborations aimed at sustaining and enhancing the RNLI’s lifesaving efforts.

The RNLI, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2024, has saved over 146,000 lives at sea and operates independently from coastguards and government funding. The organization relies on a dedicated team of 32,000 volunteers and expert staff to run its 238 lifeboat stations across the UK, underscoring the vital importance of support from industry partners like INEOS Automotive.

CEO of INEOS Automotive, Lynn Calder, expressed pride in supporting the RNLI, emphasizing the charity’s round-the-clock life-saving work in very challenging conditions. As a company, INEOS is committed to providing robust and reliable vehicles like the Grenadier to support vital frontline work.

The partnership between INEOS Automotive and RNLI showcases how industry collaborations can play a crucial role in bolstering essential services such as lifesaving operations at sea. It demonstrates a commitment to leveraging expertise and resources to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in distress at sea.
