Bars across the city are preparing to host a series of thrilling themed events featuring guest bartenders from around the globe to coincide with the unveiling of the top 50 bars. Taking place in the bustling district of Tsim Sha Tsui’s Rosewood hotel on July 16, this year’s event promises to be a celebration of the finest bars in Asia.
To kick off the festivities, a series of themed nights and guest bartender shifts will commence from July 13 onwards, offering an exclusive experience for cocktail enthusiasts. From Japanese-style hidden bars to sustainable beach bars in Bali, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
The curated list of events offers a five-day bar crawl across various venues, promising an unforgettable journey for those looking to indulge in the world of mixology.
On Saturday, July 13, the Rosewood will play host to a one-night-only pop-up featuring Japanese-style Shanghai hidden bar, Speak Low, offering breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong skyline. Meanwhile, Terrible Baby in Jordan’s Eaton HK hotel will be joining forces with Bali’s Potato Head to serve up signature tropical cocktails with an eco-friendly twist.
The excitement continues on Sunday, July 14, with a special focus on Singapore’s Lion City bars at Cardinal Point. Three renowned bars, including Atlas, Stay Gold Flamingo, and Origin Bar, will be showcasing their expertise and specialties, with their staff demonstrating unique bartending styles against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s skyline. At Gokan in Central, bartender extraordinaire Shingo Gokan will be launching his first Hong Kong bar with a unique celebration featuring 10 of his protégés from Tokyo, Okinawa, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
As the celebration extends into the following week, highlights include a Spanish-themed event at COA featuring top bars from Barcelona and Mexico City, as well as a Taiwan Takeover at Tell Camellia, where Taiwanese bars will showcase their innovative concoctions. Rounding off the festivities, The Daily Tot will be serving up rum-inspired drinks with a tropical twist, and Artifact will host a cheeky nightcap featuring bartenders from Seoul and Singapore.
The grand finale takes place on Wednesday, July 17, with a pizza party at Bar Leone featuring Singapore’s Jigger & Pony. This event promises a laid-back evening filled with music, delicious pizzas, and classic cocktails. Meanwhile, The Old Man in SoHo will welcome Hideyuki Saito of Tokyo’s renowned Gold Bar for a sophisticated evening of refined cocktails.
