In a recent event, Gerardo de la Torre, the regional senior director of Supply Chain Management (SCM) USA & Mexico at Nissan Group of North America, discussed the company’s ongoing efforts to prioritise integrated digitalisation across its business units. De la Torre emphasised the need for restructuring to enable faster digitalisation and innovative solutions while ensuring compliance and cybersecurity.

The company has been focusing on digital innovation and cybersecurity within its Supply Chain Management division. De la Torre highlighted the importance of creating a dedicated department to ensure that the supply chain meets all new laws and requirements. This strategic shift reflects Nissan’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in an increasingly digital and regulated environment.

In addition to internal restructuring, Nissan has also formed strategic partnerships with external experts to enhance its digitalisation strategy. The company has named KPMG as its strategic partner for the Manufacturing Cybersecurity Supplier Program (MCSP), demonstrating its proactive approach to cybersecurity. Furthermore, the collaboration with PwC to develop and launch a tier-n solicitation application reflects Nissan’s dedication to regional and global adoption of digital solutions across the organisation.

De la Torre also highlighted Nissan’s plans for organisational expansion, particularly within the SCM group. The company aims to bring in individuals with diverse backgrounds to support digitalisation, data analytics, compliance, and cybersecurity. This forward-looking approach signifies Nissan’s commitment to proactive and resilient supply chain practices using digital solutions.
