Perrotin Gallery is set to open its first London venue in early 2025, located in Mayfair at Claridge’s. The 350 m² gallery will have artist-driven programmes coinciding with key cultural events, including Frieze London, and will exhibit works from notable artists such as Lynn Chadwick.
Perrotin Gallery has confirmed the opening of its first London location, Perrotin London, set for early 2025. The gallery will reside in a fully renovated 350 m² space at Claridge’s, a prominent British landmark in Mayfair, specifically on Brook’s Mews, adjacent to Claridge’s ArtSpace Café. The programming will be artist-driven and will align with significant cultural events in London, including Frieze London, where the gallery has a history of participation since 2004. For the upcoming 2024 edition, Perrotin will feature works by the British sculptor Lynn Chadwick, whose Estate recently joined the gallery. Emmanuel Perrotin expressed his excitement, emphasising the importance of establishing a presence in the UK art scene: “We have a long-standing relationship with the UK art scene and collectors. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to set up the gallery in the right conditions.” Notably, the space was inaugurated in 2021 with a Damien Hirst exhibition facilitated by Claridge’s, marking a return to the gallery’s roots, as Perrotin organised Hirst’s first two commercial exhibitions in the early 1990s. He noted, “At the exhibition opening in 1991, Frieze magazine launched its first issue, and Damien’s work was featured on the cover. It was an exceptional moment in my career. I look forward to coming full circle!”
The announcement of Perrotin London coincides with the gallery’s long-standing engagement with the UK art market, reflecting an ongoing relationship with artists and collectors in the region. Mayfair, being a culturally rich neighbourhood, is a prestigious choice for the gallery’s new venue. Perrotin’s historical connection with Damien Hirst and other artists positions it uniquely as it enters London’s contemporary art scene.
Perrotin Gallery’s opening in London marks a significant expansion into a vital cultural hub, bringing a curated programme aligned with major art events. The South’s rich history of collaborations will provide a dynamic platform for its artists and contribute meaningfully to London’s cultural landscape.
