The ‘Marylebone on Display’ art exhibition at London Marylebone Station features works by women from The Marylebone Project, aimed at expressing emotions through art therapy. Running from 21 November 2024 to 15 January 2025, it is part of a series celebrating local charities and businesses supported by Chiltern Railways.

A new exhibition titled ‘Marylebone on Display’ has opened at London Marylebone Station, developed through an art therapy initiative involving women facing homelessness from The Marylebone Project, the UK’s oldest women’s homelessness service. The exhibition features artworks created during therapy sessions aimed at enhancing confidence and mental wellbeing, allowing participants to express their emotions through art. This public display, running from 21 November 2024 to 15 January 2025, highlights voices often excluded from public art.

The exhibition is part of a collaboration between Chiltern Railways, the Baker Street Quarter, and The Marylebone Project, supported by Chiltern Railways’ Community Investment Fund. It marks the first of three planned exhibitions celebrating local charities and businesses in the Marylebone area, with future exhibits focusing on the community’s beloved shopfronts and entrepreneurs.

Zach Bailey, Regional Growth Manager at Chiltern Railways, emphasised the project’s significance, stating that it offers participants a chance to showcase their work to the thousands of commuters passing through the station. He reiterated the importance of Marylebone Station as a community landmark and the commitment to making the area vibrant for residents and visitors alike.

The ‘Marylebone on Display’ exhibition intends to raise awareness and appreciation for local community efforts by showcasing art created through therapeutic sessions. This initiative benefits women at risk of homelessness, enabling them to express their struggles through art. The event not only promotes individual empowerment but also fosters community connection by making public space more inclusive and reflective of local voices.

The ‘Marylebone on Display’ exhibition provides a unique platform for artists facing homelessness to present their work publicly, enhancing community engagement and supporting mental health. Future exhibitions will continue to spotlight local businesses within the Marylebone area, enriching the community’s cultural and social fabric while fostering collaboration among local organisations.
