Japan House London has unveiled its dynamic exhibition and events programme for 2025, showcasing the richness of Japanese culture. Three major exhibitions will delve into Japan’s carpentry heritage, innovative graphic design, and exquisite handcrafted ceramics. As part of its contribution to Osaka Kansai Japan Expo 2025, Japan House will host related programs and activities throughout the year.
The spring exhibition, “The Craft of Carpentry: Drawing Life from Japan’s Forests” (March – July), will explore over a millennium of Japanese carpentry techniques, highlighting the work of traditional carpenters and featuring a full-scale teahouse. The summer exhibition will focus on award-winning pictograms designed to enhance the experience of international visitors. Lastly, the winter exhibition will celebrate Muji’s 100 designs, showcasing everyday objects made by over 100 artists from Japan.
The year will also host various engaging events, including family workshops, Grand Sumo tournament screenings, and Chadō, or tea ceremonies. Additionally, a special film season dedicated to the works of acclaimed director Shinkai Makoto will feature screenings from February, with both renowned and lesser-known films.
Visitors will find exclusive products at the Shop at Japan House, reflecting the artistry and craftsmanship of Japan, while the Library will continue to display unique collections, including a focus on Japanese transportation and a curated selection for Expo 2025.
