The Barbican is transforming one of its car parks into a temporary club for a new exhibition titled Feel the Sound this spring and summer. Running from 22nd May to 31st August, the exhibition will showcase the interaction of sound, frequencies, and vibrations in our environment. It will occupy several spaces within the brutalist site, including the underground car parks for the first time.

The exhibition features 11 installations, with six being exclusive new commissions. Highlights include Dublin’s Temporary Pleasure collective, presenting “Joyride” in Car Park 5, which merges car culture with DIY music. Domestic Data Streamers will also create “Forever Frequencies” using AI to design future music experiences.

Additionally, projects like UN/BOUND, from the Trans Voices collective, will engage visitors in an evolving musical experience through holographic choral exploration. Curator Maholo Uchida emphasises the importance of reconnecting music with humanity in today’s visually dominated world, aiming to create a rich auditory environment for visitors.

For more information and tickets for Feel the Sound, visit the Barbican’s website. Last year the venue hosted events like Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce, further solidifying its role in London’s cultural scene.
