The Royal Academy of Arts will hold the Kiefer/Van Gogh exhibition from 28th June to 26th October. This first-time showcase in the UK juxtaposes Anselm Kiefer’s works with those of Vincent van Gogh, illustrating Kiefer’s influence from Van Gogh’s artistry. The display will combine paintings, drawings, and sculptures, including previously unexhibited works from Kiefer alongside classic pieces by Van Gogh from the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.
Visitors can appreciate how both artists share similar thoughts and themes while highlighting their distinct styles. Significant works in the exhibition will feature Kiefer’s expansive landscapes like “Die Krähen (The Crows), 2019” and “Nevermore, 2014”, as well as Van Gogh’s landmarks such as “Snow-Covered Field with a Harrow (after Millet), 1890” and “Field of Irises near Arles, 1888”.
Additionally, the exhibition will showcase early drawings from both artists; Kiefer’s youthful inspirations by Van Gogh will be displayed with Van Gogh’s own sketches like “La Crau Seen from Montmajour, 1888,” which hasn’t been shown in London for over half a century.
