The Emirates Publishers Association bolsters the UAE’s presence at the London Book Fair with a delegation of seven Emirati publishers. This initiative aims to establish partnerships, exchange rights, and empower emerging talents in the publishing industry, reflecting the UAE’s growth in the sector.

The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) enhances the UAE’s global footprint at the London Book Fair, a key event for rights negotiation and content sales. This year’s delegation includes seven Emirati publishers, two of whom are graduates from the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund (Onshur), highlighting the EPA’s commitment to regional publishing growth.

The fair offers Emirati publishers a platform to form international partnerships, exchange rights, and land translation agreements, while keeping abreast of global publishing trends. Notable participants include Kalimat Group, known for children’s literature, and ‘Dar AlFikr AlJadeed,’ which focuses on training manuals for management.

‘Idra Publishing and Distribution’ translates global works into Arabic across various disciplines, enhancing the cultural landscape. ‘Thaqafa Publishing and Distribution’ enriches Arab culture through diverse high-quality publications, while ‘Ugarit Publishing’ fosters early childhood education with innovative programmes.

Additionally, the EPA pavilion features winners from the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund, like Shatha Nasser from Kairos Publishing, focused on Arabic translations of classic literature, and Maryam Thani AlFalasi from Ghaim Publishing, which translates Asian literary works.

Rashid Al Kous, EPA’s Executive Director, stated that the UAE’s participation underscores the growth of its publishing sector and the importance of global relationships for collaboration. He emphasised the need to empower emerging publishers for sustainable industry development both locally and globally. Through its presence at the fair, the EPA reaffirms its dedication to supporting local publishers and expanding their global opportunities.

The EPA’s participation at the London Book Fair significantly bolsters the UAE’s publishing landscape. By showcasing a diverse group of publishers and nurturing emerging talents, the EPA aims to create global collaborations, foster cultural exchanges, and ensure sustainable growth in the publishing sector.
