Jordanian food exporters are actively participating in the International Food and Drink Event in London, aiming to penetrate the lucrative UK market. The three-day exhibition features a diverse range of products such as confectionery, baked goods, spices, nuts, and specialty items, attracting global buyers and distributors.

According to Ahmad Khudari, president of the Jordan Exporters Association, the event is crucial for establishing new trade connections. He stated that the goal is to forge direct links with international buyers, showcasing the quality and competitive advantage of Jordanian food products.

The focus is on increasing Jordan’s presence within the expanding halal food sector and international markets, which he claims is vital for boosting domestic production, industrial growth, foreign investment, and improving the trade balance.

Halim Abu Rahma, general manager of the association, noted significant interest from international buyers at the exhibition, emphasising the opportunity for Jordanian companies to demonstrate their product quality and innovation. He highlighted the British market’s strategic importance, especially post-Brexit, and encouraged businesses to capitalise on the free trade agreement with the UK.

The 2021 agreement allows Jordanian products tariff-free access to the UK, similar to a deal with the EU, which has facilitated trade worth approximately 303 million dinars ($427 million) in 2023. The exhibition is hosting 1,500 exhibitors and expects to attract around 30,000 buyers and distributors from over 105 countries.

Jordanian food manufacturers are leveraging the International Food and Drink Event in London to access the UK market, aiming to enhance exports and establish trade ties. The emphasis on quality and the halal sector signifies the strategic intentions of the Jordanian delegation, significantly supported by the free trade agreement with the UK that enables tariff-free access for their products. This event represents an important step toward boosting Jordan’s presence in international trade.
