The exhibition is laid out across three gallery rooms, beginning with an artistically designed entrance, leading to a recreation of the courtyard from his childhood in Ghana. The final room features his first double-sided painting, framed in a sculptural enclosure that embodies the Adinkra symbol “nkyinkyim,” representing resilience and adaptability.
The courtyard setup allows visitors to immerse themselves in a communal atmosphere, reflecting Boafo’s early experiences as an artist. Many works highlight relaxation and play, including a large self-portrait titled “Self-Portrait with Cacti” and another piece, “Black Cycle,” both of which explore the interplay of texture and personal narrative.
The exhibition runs from April 10 to May 24, 2025, at Gagosian Grosvenor Hill, with an opening reception on April 10 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
