The Seacourt Print Workshop in Bangor has launched an exhibition of Joe Tilson’s Pop Art works. The revamped site now includes studios, a gallery, and plans for future artistic events. Support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland enhances local engagement.

A new exhibition showcasing the work of Joe Tilson, a key figure in the Pop Art movement of the 1960s, has opened at the Seacourt Print Workshop in Bangor, Co Down. This exhibition includes Tilson’s iconic prints as well as later works that incorporate ziggurats and consumer imagery. The Seacourt Print Workshop, having recently reopened after renovations, is committed to promoting printmaking in the local community.

After relocating to the historic Ulster Bank building in 2021, Seacourt purchased the property last year, which now houses 60 members, 11 artist studios, a gallery, and an education room for workshops. Director Emma Drury expressed excitement about spotlighting Joe Tilson’s work in their newly refurbished space, emphasising their aim to reach new audiences.

Upcoming events include a group show titled “All at Sea” in May and a solo exhibition by studio resident Craig Jefferson in July, marking his first major exhibition in Bangor. Suzanne Lyle, from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, praised Seacourt’s renovations as pivotal for Bangor’s cultural landscape and encouraged community engagement with the exhibition and future events.

The Seacourt Print Workshop has launched an exhibition featuring Joe Tilson’s work, highlighting the significance of his contributions to the Pop Art movement. The venue has been revitalised to foster local artistic expression and community engagement, with further exhibitions planned for the coming months.
