The guitar used by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s legendary ‘MTV Unplugged’ performance will be showcased at a London exhibition from June 3 to November 18, 2023. This performance, recorded in November 1993 and later released as a Grammy-winning live album, is celebrated as one of the band’s finest.

The exhibition, housed at the Royal College of Music Museum, is curated by rock journalist Alan di Perna and Gabrielle Rossi Rognoni, and marks the guitar’s first display in the UK. Previously sold for $6 million by Australian entrepreneur Peter Freedman, it is the most expensive guitar sold at auction.

Freedman aims to promote awareness of artists’ struggles through this exhibition. He stated his delight in showcasing the guitar in the UK, inspiring future musicians. The exhibition, titled “Kurt Cobain: Unplugged,” will also display Cobain’s olive-green mohair cardigan and a collection of Nirvana memorabilia.

Tickets for this must-see exhibition go on sale April 30, priced at £5. Additionally, another guitar from Cobain’s last tour was sold for over $1.5 million in 2023.
