Formula E will continue hosting its UK round at ExCeL London until at least 2026 after a recent contract extension. The venue has been praised for its unique indoor-outdoor circuit, enhancing fan experience sustainably. The partnership has successfully attracted large audiences and will host the season finale this July.

Formula E’s UK round will stay at ExCeL London until at least 2026, following a contract extension with the exhibition centre in the capital. Earlier speculation hinted at a potential move to Silverstone, but this announcement confirms ExCeL as the long-term venue.

Alberto Longo, Formula E’s Chief Championship Officer, expressed satisfaction with the extension, highlighting ExCeL as an ideal venue. He noted, “Its unique track conditions and event space offers fans and drivers the very best of our sport, bringing the best racing and entertainment together in a truly unique venue at the heart of the capital, while all delivered sustainably.”

Since 2021, Formula E has raced on an innovative indoor-outdoor circuit at the ExCeL, which took over from Battersea Park. ExCeL is currently undergoing renovations that integrate Formula E’s needs into the design. The venue will host the season finale in July and retain its position in the upcoming season’s schedule.

Last year, the event drew 50,000 fans to witness Pascal Wehrlein secure his first Formula E title for TAG Heuer Porsche, with Jaguar claiming the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ championship.

Damian Norman, Director of Immersive Entertainment and Events at ExCeL London, noted the excitement of hosting such a significant sporting event. He stated, “It’s also been an honor for ExCeL and London to stage the championship’s season finale and for British fans to witness a world champion of motorsport crowned on UK soil.” He also highlighted the successful collaboration with Formula E, including the Guinness World Indoor Land Speed Record and the commitment to 100% renewable energy for the event.

The contract extension solidifies ExCeL London’s role as the home of Formula E in the UK through 2026. The partnership promises exciting racing experiences in a unique venue while upholding sustainable practices. Both parties express enthusiasm for their ongoing collaboration and the continuation of hosting significant motorsport events in London.
