A major exhibition honouring the late fashion designer Gianni Versace is set to take place at Arches London Bridge, launching on July 16. This retrospective will display an impressive 450 items from Versace’s illustrious career, featuring iconic pieces worn by prominent figures like Princess Diana, Kate Moss, and Sir Elton John.

Key pieces from stars such as Naomi Campbell, George Michael, and Liz Hurley will also be showcased, many of which haven’t seen the light of day before. The exhibition will dive into Versace’s influences from London and his friendships with high-profile clients, illustrating how these relationships shaped his artistry.

Liz Koravos, managing director of Arches London Bridge, expressed excitement about the exhibition. “Arches London Bridge is delighted to host this opulent journey through the life and career of Gianni Versace. As a genius of his time, it’s fascinating to see these incredible collections assembled under the curved arches of the venue,” she noted.

Koravos further highlighted Versace’s impact on contemporary culture, stating, “Gianni Versace ties to so much in modern culture and his legacy is enduring, a mark of a talented designer.” She praised Versace as a pioneer in blending various forms of art, from fashion and music to pop culture and fine art, emphasising the multifaceted essence of his work.

Describing the display as the “biggest collection of vintage Versace to ever visit the UK,” she added that the exhibition would offer a vibrant insight into the style of the 90s, urging attendees, “It’s not to be missed.”

Tickets for the exhibition will be available for general purchase starting May 21, with a pre-sale opportunity scheduled prior to that date. Since Versace’s tragic murder in 1997, his sister Donatella has been instrumental in reshaping the brand’s image and direction. Recently, she stepped down as chief creative officer, a role now filled by Dario Vitale.

The Versace brand continues to thrive, with recent designs adored by celebrities like Dua Lipa, Angelina Jolie, and Sabrina Carpenter, ensuring that the Versace legacy endures in today’s fashion landscape.

The upcoming Gianni Versace retrospective at Arches London Bridge promises to be a highlight for fashion lovers, featuring notable pieces worn by iconic figures and celebrating Versace’s immense cultural impact and artistry. With unprecedented access to this extensive collection, the exhibition highlights his innovations in fashion and the lasting legacy he created before his untimely death.
