A significant retrospective exhibition celebrating the work of legendary fashion designer Gianni Versace is set to open at Arches London Bridge. Scheduled for July 16, this exhibition will showcase 450 pieces, some worn by prominent figures like Princess Diana, Kate Moss, and Sir Elton John.
Alongside these high-profile outfits, the exhibition will also feature creations from icons such as Naomi Campbell and George Michael, many of which have rarely been seen before. The show will shine a light on how London influenced Versace’s designs and his close friendships with celebrities like Elton John and Diana. A total of 21 collections from Spring/Summer 1988 to Autumn/Winter 1997-1998 will be on display.
Liz Koravos, managing director at Arches London Bridge, expressed excitement about hosting this unique exhibition. She stated, “As a genius of his time, it’s fascinating to see these incredible collections assembled under the curved arches of the venue.” She highlighted how Versace’s legacy has made a lasting impression on modern culture and how the exhibition promises an immersive experience with the best of vintage Versace from the ’90s.
“The biggest collection of vintage Versace to ever visit the UK will give visitors a kaleidoscopic view of the ’90s. It’s not to be missed,” Koravos added. Tickets for the highly anticipated event go on general sale on May 21, with an exclusive pre-sale preceding it.
The renowned designer was tragically murdered in 1997, leaving his sister Donatella Versace to steer the brand towards modernity. Recently, she stepped down as chief creative officer, with Dario Vitale taking over. In today’s market, the Versace brand continues to attract the likes of contemporary celebrities such as Dua Lipa and Angelina Jolie.
