The Influence of Taking CBD Oil For Health and Fitness Among Healthy Adults

A recent study has been conducted to investigate the impact of oral cannabidiol (CBD) usage on the health and fitness of healthy adults. The objective of the study was to assess the advantages of CBD oil on fitness, body composition, cognitive health, mental well-being, and systemic inflammation in individuals.

Background

CBD, derived from the Cannabis sativa L plant, is renowned for its therapeutic properties, particularly in the management of neuroinflammatory disorders such as anxiety, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. Some reports suggest that regular CBD use may alter body composition, influence glucose metabolism, and increase maximal oxygen consumption without affecting other cardiovascular health parameters.

Furthermore, CBD has been associated with enhanced learning and memory, increased blood flow in the brain, reduction of pro-inflammatory markers in individuals with certain health conditions, and decreased levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) among adults with specific substance abuse disorders.

About the Study

The study was a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial that involved 48 adult participants aged 18 to 50 years. These individuals were randomly assigned to receive either 50.0 milligrams of CBD or 225.0 milligrams of medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) capsules daily for eight weeks. Various assessments were performed, including measures of fitness, body composition, physical activity, psychological well-being, cognitive function, and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels.

Results

The study found that there were no significant differences in body composition, aerobic fitness, muscular strength, physical activity levels, or cognitive health between the CBD group and the placebo group. However, the placebo group experienced reductions in certain fitness measures, while the CBD group did not. No severe adverse events were reported.

Conclusions

The findings suggested that regular intake of 50.0 mg of CBD for eight weeks may help prevent reductions in anaerobic power over time, possibly due to its antioxidant properties. However, long-term use of CBD did not show significant improvements in aerobic fitness, body composition, mental health, physical activity, inflammation, or psychological well-being among healthy adults.

In conclusion, this study contributes to the growing body of research on the effects of CBD on health and fitness. Further research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits and limitations of CBD use among different populations.
