On a recent occasion, PowerHouse Data Centers played host to an exclusive event entitled Women Leading Tech Today, a private wine tasting and networking evening in Ashburn, Virginia. The primary aim of the event was to unite women within the industry in order to honour and celebrate their accomplishments, as well as to establish valuable connections.
Karen Petersburg, Vice President of Data Center Development and Construction at PowerHouse, emphasized the significance of acknowledging women as leaders within the industry. The event successfully brought together more than 35 women, including leaders from renowned companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, AWS, QTS, Vantage, and Equinix, for the purpose of celebration and networking.
The event was impeccably coordinated by Karen Petersburg and Whitney Griggs, with Doug Fleit acting as sommelier and emcee. The evening featured wine tasting and provided an opportunity for peer networking and an expression of appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by women within the industry.

The event is an integral component of PowerHouse’s ongoing DEI initiative, which seeks to enhance gender diversity in leadership roles throughout the data center industry. The initiative includes a diversity and inclusion panel at the Data Center Anti Conference Live, as well as a mentor and coaching workshop focused on data center development to support STEM education for girls through the 7×24 Exchange DC Chapter association.
The event underscored the necessity of addressing the gender disparity within the data center industry, as only approximately 10 percent of industry professionals are women.
