The business incubator, The Shops at Sharp End, is scheduled to have its grand opening in the middle of January. The establishment aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurs from Columbia’s Sharp End, which holds a prestigious reputation as a district known for its rich history as a Black-owned business area.
This exciting development has begun with a soft opening that occurred on Friday and Saturday. It was only on Wednesday that The Shops at Sharp End had its first fully-operational day, serving as a trial run for the new employees and an opportunity to open its doors to the community for part of the holiday season. With the support of the local residents, the shop was able to work through any initial challenges or “bugs,” as shared by Nickie Davis, the executive director of The District.
