HONOR Technologies Africa has recently expanded its support for the Siyafunda Community Technology Centre (CTC) by making a generous donation of devices valued at R245,000.00. The handover ceremony, which occurred this Tuesday, symbolized the formal presentation of HONOR’s contribution to Siyafunda CTC, a non-profit organization committed to promoting digital skills and enterprise development.
The donated devices included HONOR’s latest offering, the Pad X9, which features an 11.5-inch, 5:3, 1200 x 2000-pixel display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a six-speaker system. Mr. Zhou Lefeng, a representative from HONOR, expressed the company’s belief that access to technology and digital skills is a fundamental right that should be available to everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status. He emphasized the importance of empowering Siyafunda’s students through access to online education, job opportunities, and overall life improvement.
Siyafunda CTC aims to remove the financial barrier associated with technology adoption, particularly within educational settings. It is worth noting that the donation from HONOR occurred independently of an invitation from the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, which had invited HONOR and other tech companies to contribute resources to its Back To School 2024 program. In response to this invitation, Mr. Lefeng reiterated HONOR’s commitment to being a catalyst for empowerment, innovation, and inclusive growth through the provision of cutting-edge telecommunications solutions.
Furthermore, HONOR recognises the potential for collaborative efforts between government, non-profit organizations like Siyafunda CTC, and private technology companies. This vision has led to the company’s aspiration for the partnership with Siyafunda CTC to serve as a model for future engagements with government ministries and other community stakeholders. According to HONOR’s Government Relations Manager, Slindokuhle Mbuyisa, the combination of resources around a shared vision requires careful consideration and negotiation.
Notably, the donation to Siyafunda CTC is the latest in a series of contributions made by HONOR. These include donations for skills development, a building ownership donation to a black-owned media agency, and the facilitation of employment opportunities for 18 young individuals through the Youth Employment Service (YES) Initiative.
In summary, HONOR Technologies Africa’s contribution to Siyafunda CTC underscores the company’s dedication to supporting digital skills development and enterprise growth within local communities. Through these efforts, HONOR is actively working to bridge the technological gap and create opportunities for individuals from all walks of life.
