Adamastor’s Pledge to Hi-rEV: A Promising Step Toward Automotive Sector Recovery

Adamastor, a leading company in the automotive components sector, has recently announced its active participation in the Hi-rEV project – an initiative focused on the recovery of the automotive components industry. The company’s commitment to this innovative project entails leveraging its expertise in the production of carbon fibre components, with a strong emphasis on research and development operations. By joining hands with other key players in the sector, Adamastor aims to drive the essential disruptive changes needed for the industry to adapt and effectively respond to the targets set for the energy transition.

Through its engineering centre of excellence, Adamastor is currently engaged in a pioneering research and concept development project for the production of battery structures for electric cars. This positions the company at the forefront of the automotive sector due to its in-house expertise and advanced technologies.

Frederico Ribeiro, the Engineering Director at Adamastor, highlighted the benefits of utilising carbon fibre for manufacturing crucial components in the electric mobility sector. He mentioned, “By relying on the characteristics of carbon fibre to manufacture crucial components for the electric mobility sector, we benefit from its high strength and low weight.”

These carbon fibre components not only enable lighter solutions, thereby enhancing the range of vehicles, but also provide greater structural rigidity, contributing to the essential protection of batteries and ensuring safety in the event of an accident. The versatility of the structures being developed caters to a wide range of vehicles, from the growing micromobility segment to heavy passenger transport vehicles, including public transport buses – a sector that plays a crucial role in achieving carbon emission objectives.

Hi-rEV, an initiative co-promoted with 12 other entities as part of the Recovery and Resilience Programme, mobilises agendas for business innovation. It aims to amalgamate diverse experiences and knowledge to drive the transformation needed to meet the demands of the future market. The project has identified three central pillars focused on the green transition of the automotive component manufacturing sector, digital transformation of the production system, and economic resilience through capacity building for new processes/products for the vehicles of the future. These pillars pave the way for increased resilience through specialisation, adaptation to future markets, and sustainable and inclusive growth.

Adamastor’s active involvement in the Hi-rEV project underscores the company’s dedication to driving positive change in the automotive components industry and aligning itself with the demands of the future market. The company’s emphasis on innovation and research reflects its commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth, thus setting a promising example for the industry as a whole.

The company’s Engineering Director, Frederico Ribeiro, stated, “By relying on the characteristics of carbon fibre to manufacture crucial components for the electric mobility sector, we benefit from its high strength and low weight.”

Through its participation in this groundbreaking initiative, Adamastor is poised to play a pivotal role in the recovery and transformation of the automotive sector, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of innovation and sustainability.
