Forbes Magazine has unveiled its annual 30 Under 30 list, highlighting exceptional young entrepreneurs, leaders, and celebrities from various backgrounds. Among this year’s diverse cohort, three notable young entrepreneurs stand out.
Kimiloluwa Fafowora, a 26-year-old Harvard graduate, has garnered attention as the founder of Gander. This innovative start-up aims to aid online shoppers in discovering and purchasing new products through user-generated videos. Through collaborations with brands to create these videos, Gander strives to offer consumers a visual representation of the products they are interested in. Fafowora’s company secured $4.2 million in a seed round co-led by Harlem Capital and Crossbeam Venture Partners in June 2022.
Jungmin Kang, the creator of Snoopslimes, embarked on her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 13 by crafting and selling slime. Inspired by ASMR videos online, Kang transformed her $200 allowance into a thriving business that now employs 40 people and is projected to achieve sales of $11 million in the 2022 financial year. With an impressive following of 6 million, Kang has successfully built a loyal customer base.
At 28, Ham Serunjogi co-founded Chipper Cash, a mobile money company that facilitates direct money transfers to bank and mobile money accounts in over 21 African countries, including South Africa, Uganda, and Nigeria. The platform also provides the ability to pay bills, trade stocks, and invest in cryptocurrency. Raised in Uganda and a graduate of Grinnell College in the US, Serunjogi’s firsthand experience with the challenges of sending money to Africa motivated the creation of Chipper Cash. In 2021, the company generated over $75 million in revenue, predominantly through foreign exchange fees, and was valued at $2.2 billion.
The accomplishments of these young entrepreneurs underscore the immense talent and potential within the global entrepreneurial landscape. As they continue to make strides and achieve remarkable milestones, they are certainly individuals to monitor in the upcoming year.
