Modine Expands Tech Investment in Data Center Liquid Cooling

Modine, a leading global provider of thermal management solutions, has recently completed the acquisition of the intellectual property and assets of TMG Core, a specialist in liquid immersion cooling technology for high-density data centers. This strategic move aligns with Modine’s overarching goal of expanding its array of data center offerings and capitalizing on the burgeoning liquid cooling market, which is anticipated to reach a value of $7.8 billion by 2028.

Neil Brinker, President and CEO of Modine, underscored the significance of this investment in bolstering support for high-density computing applications such as artificial intelligence, 5G, and machine learning. Liquid immersion cooling entails submerging IT servers in non-conductive fluid-filled tanks to dissipate heat, thus enabling higher computing density and reduced energy consumption. Moreover, this technology is particularly advantageous for edge data center applications, where proximity to data sources is critical for minimizing latency.

Eric McGinnis, President of Modine Climate Solutions, emphasized how this investment broadens the range of solutions offered by the Airedale brand and addresses the heat challenges in next-generation IT applications. The company’s objective is to provide comprehensive systems with user-friendly controls on a global scale to meet the escalating demand for energy-efficient and emission-compliant solutions.

In summary, Modine’s investment in liquid immersion cooling technology serves as a testament to its dedication to fulfilling the evolving requirements of the data center market and bolstering the advancement of high-performance computing applications.
