The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) recently hosted a valedictory ceremony to bestow certificates upon seventy-one participants from 27 developing nations. These professionals have successfully completed three programmes sponsored by the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The programmes were aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, knowledge management, policy research, and innovation in developing economies.
Participants from various nations, such as Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya, Malaysia, and South Africa, were presented with their certificates during the ceremony. The Chief Guest at the event was Smt. Abhilasha Joshi, Additional Secretary [DPA-II & IV], Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, also graced the ceremony with his presence to congratulate the participants on their achievements.
The three Capacity Building programmes were held from 1 – 19 January 2024 and provided valuable insights into entrepreneurship education, knowledge management, policy research, infrastructure and sustainable project preparation, informal sector enterprise, and the promotion of startups in developing economies through innovation and incubation.
Ms. Abhilasha Joshi, in her speech at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of learning and knowledge sharing, highlighting the value that India places on education and its dedication to international cooperation. Dr. Sunil Shukla also commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to apply their newfound knowledge in their respective countries for the greater good.
The three programmes each had their specific focus and were led by prominent Programme Directors. The Entrepreneurship Education, Knowledge Management, and Policy Research programme had 28 participants from 18 countries. The Infrastructure and Sustainable Project Preparation & Appraisal and Informal Sector Enterprise programme included 17 participants from 10 countries. Lastly, the Promoting Startups in Developing Economies through Innovation and Incubation programme had 26 participants from 16 countries.
All participants had the opportunity to gain practical experience through exposure visits, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. The event highlighted the government’s commitment towards international cooperation and the advancement of entrepreneurship in developing countries.
