Celebrating the 8th Global Student Entrepreneurship Award: A Showcase of Young Business Talent

The culmination of the 8th Global Student Entrepreneurship Award (GSEA) for the Bangladesh Chapter was held on Saturday at the esteemed Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan. This event marked the conclusion of the 2023-24 competition organized by the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).

Pijush Dutta, a student from Dhaka University, emerged as the winner of the national competition for his business venture ‘ABC Waste Management’. According to a press release by BSS, this talented young entrepreneur was awarded a prize money of Tk 10 lakh. He is set to represent Bangladesh in the global final scheduled to be held in Dubai in mid-May 2024, where he will compete in the global quarter-final against participants from South Asian countries including India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

The first runner-up position was secured by Sayed Zuaber Hasan from North South University for his business ‘Krishi Shwapno’, while Nafesa Anjum from Bangladesh University of Professionals claimed the second runner-up position with her business ‘Ecolery’. This year, the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) of the ICT Department played a crucial role as a strategic partner in organizing the competition.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Gazi AKM Fazlul Haque, Director General of BIDA, who attended as the Guest of Honor. The jury board consisted of esteemed individuals such as Siddhartho Goushami, Senior Consultant & Operation Specialist of the iDEA of the ICT Division, Azra Salim, MD & CEO of Shombhob Health Ltd, Tanveer Ali, Director of Olympic Industries Ltd, and Sayed Moinuddin Ahmed, Additional MD of Green Delta Insurance Ltd.

Chair of the GSEA Bangladesh Chapter, Sadat Omi, delivered the welcome speech, while prominent figures like Zia Uddin, President EO Bangladesh & MD of Pristine Chem Ltd, Mike Kazi, Former President EO Bangladesh & Chairman Apex Properties Ltd, Faatin Haque, President Elect & Chairman of Trade Design Solution Ltd, Sohana Rouf Chowdhury, MD of Rangs Motors Ltd, and Nafees M Khan, MD of Geers Group Ltd, graced the event with their presence.

The event received sponsorship from key organizations such as Rangs Group, City Bank Ltd, Anwar Landmark, and Peugeot Anwar Group Automobile Division.

The 8th Global Student Entrepreneurship Award was a remarkable showcase of the exceptional talent and innovative business ideas of young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
