Viettel Post (VTPost) has achieved a significant milestone in the Vietnamese logistics industry by becoming the first company to implement an advanced robot-based parcel sorting system. The introduction of 160 LiBiao ‘Mini Yellow’ autonomous guided robots at its storage and distribution hub in Hanoi has positioned VTPost as a leader in innovation within the sector.
With this state-of-the-art technology, VTPost now has the capability to process an impressive 6,000 parcels per hour, regardless of their varying sizes, weights, and shapes. By embracing automation, the company has effectively doubled its order throughput speed while significantly reducing the margin of error to almost zero. Furthermore, the implementation of the robot-based sorting system has enabled VTPost to reallocate its workforce to more financially rewarding areas of the business, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.
The operational workflow of the system involves a single employee loading parcels onto the waiting sorting robots at the induction stations. Once a parcel is placed onto a robot, a communications port captures the relevant order information data from the label. Following this, LiBiao’s control and scheduling software issues instructions to guide each robot to the corresponding sorting bin or destination chute using the safest and most time-efficient route.
With over 1,000 destination chutes, the robots halt upon reaching the designated chute to deposit the parcel before returning to the induction station to pick up another order. This seamless operation ensures a continuous and uninterrupted sorting process, resulting in optimal efficiency and productivity.
Le Tuan Anh, Deputy Director General of VTPost, has expressed his excitement about being the first Vietnamese company to adopt this advanced sortation technology. He further highlighted VTPost’s commitment to advancing its business objectives by integrating automation into key operational processes across its storage and distribution hubs nationwide.
VTPost’s adoption of robot-based parcel sortation technology is a significant move, signifying a significant modernization of the logistics sector in Vietnam. As the company continues to lead the way in embracing cutting-edge solutions, the industry is poised for widespread transformation in the near future.
