Swiss film startup FinFilm has recently announced its involvement in the financing of the upcoming family adventure film “Robin and the Hoods,” a Sky Original production. The Zurich-based company is playing a crucial role as a gap lender for this exciting project.

Directed by Phil Hawkins and produced by Silver Reel and Future Artists Entertainment, “Robin and the Hoods” is a contemporary take on the classic tale of Sherwood Forest’s hero, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Naomi Harris, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Williams, and newcomer Darcey Ewart in the lead role as the 11-year-old Robin. The film follows the story of Robin and her friends, the “Hoods,” as they band together to save their enchanted woodland from the clutches of an unscrupulous developer.

Claudia Bluemhuber, managing partner at Silver Reel, and Matt Williams of Future Artists Entertainment are overseeing the production of “Robin and the Hoods.” FinFilm’s co-founder and managing director, Michel Morales, expressed his delight in supporting this project and praised the expertise of the entire production team.

In addition to its involvement in “Robin and the Hoods,” FinFilm is also venturing into the African film industry. CEO Enrico Fadani will be participating in the inaugural edition of AfroBerlin, an industry showcase at the EFM during the Berlinale. The event aims to foster connections among filmmakers, companies, and key players in the African film industry. Fadani will be discussing the challenges of financing film productions in Africa, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting young filmmakers in bringing their work to the global stage.

Furthermore, FinFilm is currently financing various productions in Zambia and Mauritius, showcasing the company’s dedication to fostering the growth of the film industry across the African continent. Fadani highlighted the rapid development of the film industry in many African countries and the importance of providing support to emerging filmmakers in an ever-changing landscape.

The company, which also has offices in Munich and Rome, will be hosting an exclusive gap financing panel at the EFM on Feb. 18. The discussion will focus on the evolving role of gap financing in the film market, offering insights into the challenges faced by producers in the industry. Joining Fadani on the panel are esteemed industry professionals, including Claudia Bluemhuber, Phil Hunt, Timo Argillander, and media attorney Ralph Oliver Graef, who will serve as the moderator.

In conclusion, FinFilm’s involvement in “Robin and the Hoods” and its participation in industry events such as AfroBerlin and the EFM demonstrate the company’s commitment to supporting diverse and innovative film projects, both in Europe and Africa. The company’s engagement in financing productions and its collaboration with industry leaders reflect its dedication to the continued growth and development of the global film industry.
