CRP Technology Unveils New Super Lightweight Material for Professional 3D Printing

CRP Technology, a trailblazing 3D printing company and service bureau, has recently introduced Windform SL (super lightweight), an ultra-light polyamide-based composite reinforced with carbon fibers. With a low density of 0.87 g/cc, this new material offers exceptional lightweight characteristics, making it an ideal choice for various industries.

The debut of Windform SL, the twelfth material in the Windform TOP-LINE series, showcases CRP Technology’s dedication to innovation in the 3D printing industry. Franco Cevolini, CEO and Technical Director of CRP Technology, affirmed, “Our commitment to advancement is unwavering. As a historic, pioneering company, we are continuously innovating and creating top-of-the-line materials for professional 3D printing. Windform SL is the latest proof of our progress, representing a significant step forward in our growth journey that positions us at the forefront of the industry.”

Windform SL is particularly well-suited for applications in the UAV/UAS sector, where a balance of lightness, stiffness, and thermal resistance is essential. With a heat deflection temperature at 1.82 MPa of 182.5 °C, high values of Specific Tensile Modulus, Specific Tensile Strength, and Impact Strength (Charpy and Izod), the material ensures structural stability under intense stress, even at elevated temperatures – ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.

Apart from its outstanding mechanical properties, Windform SL also features an impressive post-process surface finish with Ra values of 5.44 µm after the SLS process, 1.56 µm after manual finishing, and 0.83 µm after CNC processing. This makes it an advanced solution for the future of professional 3D printing, with wide-ranging applications in the UAV sector and beyond.

Cevolini conveyed his confidence in the material, stating, “As a leading 3D printing service provider, I am confident that this material will swiftly become the preferred choice for many UAV and automotive customers relying on our 3D printing department for their advanced parts.”

Overall, Windform SL holds the promise of revolutionizing the production of sophisticated and efficient components across various fields, from aerospace to automotive, by ensuring lightweight without compromising thickness. Its exceptional properties position it as an advanced solution for the future of professional 3D printing, with the potential to meet the demands of industries that require high-performance materials.
