The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives has solidified its commitment to supporting the growth and advancement of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Deputy Minister Datuk R. Ramanan disclosed that the ministry is dedicated to offering assistance to SMEs in various critical areas, particularly in terms of securing funding.

During a press conference following the official opening of the 4th SME Congress organized by the Malaysian Indian Muslim Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Mimcoin), Deputy Minister Datuk R. Ramanan reassured that the ministry has identified the pressing challenges faced by SMEs. These challenges encompass development, financial support, infrastructure, and networking.

He also expressed his confidence in the government’s capabilities to tackle these issues through agencies such as SME Corp, Bank Rakyat, and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia. These agencies are well-equipped to offer financial backing, entrepreneurial guidance, matching grants, and networking opportunities to bolster SMEs.

Subsequent to his discussions with Mimcoin, Deputy Minister Datuk R. Ramanan anticipates that the chamber will assume a pivotal role as an intermediary between the ministry and SME stakeholders, thus aiding in the resolution of any challenges encountered by SMEs.

With a membership base comprising over 1,000 SMEs, Mimcoin possesses the potential to advocate for SME entrepreneurs and effectively communicate their concerns to the ministry and associated agencies.

During the 4th SME Congress, Deputy Minister Datuk R. Ramanan underscored the event’s significance as a crucial platform for disseminating knowledge on entrepreneurship, motivation, and the fostering of networking opportunities within the SME sector.

The event was also graced by distinguished individuals such as Datuk Seri Mohd Iqbal Rawther, Chairman of the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur, Mimcoin President Datuk Jamarulkan M.S Kadir, and the organizing chairman of the 4th SME Congress, Datuk Abdul Hamid P.V Abdu.
