In a significant development, The Compleat Food Group, headquartered in Nottingham, has successfully finalized the acquisition of two prominent food companies – SK Foods and Zorba Foods, both of which were previously part of The Entrepreneurial Food Group.
These two companies are recognized as industry leaders in the private label chilled party foods and dips and deli fillings categories, with a combined annual turnover exceeding £160 million and more than 1,150 employees. This represents a notable transformation in the landscape of the UK’s food industry.
Established in 1987, SK Foods, situated in Teesside, has a workforce of over 770 employees. The company specializes in producing globally inspired party foods, encompassing Indian, Oriental, Tex Mex, Mediterranean, and Traditional British favorites. Remarkably, SK Foods commands an impressive 40% market share for private label party foods outside of the Christmas period.
On the other hand, Zorba Foods, established in 1976 and based in South Wales, employs nearly 380 individuals at its Gwent site. Initially focused on creating authentic Greek houmous, the company expanded its offerings to include a wide range of Greek, Traditional, Tex Mex, and Asian-inspired dips and sauces, as well as soups for retail and foodservice. Zorba Foods holds approximately 25% share of the private label dips market.
Nick Field, CEO of The Compleat Food Group, conveyed his excitement regarding the recent acquisitions and emphasized the positive impact they would have on the group. He also indicated the intention to continue investing in both companies to bolster their capabilities and drive innovation within their respective categories. This strategic move is in accordance with the group’s dedication to fortify its position in the market and offer enhanced products to consumers, consequently contributing to sustainable growth in the food sector.
Moreover, Jeremy Faulkner, who serves as the CEO of both SK Foods and Zorba, underscored the commitment of both companies to upholding genuine food values. He also expressed confidence in the partnership with The Compleat Food Group, citing shared values and a collective ambition to foster innovation and growth within their respective categories and with key partners.
Consequently, with these acquisitions, The Compleat Food Group is well-positioned to make a substantial impact on the food industry, focusing on promoting innovation, enhancing product offerings, and delivering value to its consumers. This signifies a momentous milestone in the Group’s journey to establish itself as a leader in the food and beverage sector.
