Keynote Speech on Financial Innovation by European Business Leader Alessandro Canta in Rome

The University of Arkansas is pleased to announce that Alessandro Canta, the head of finance and insurance at ENEL S.p.A., will be delivering a keynote speech on financial innovation as part of the Rome Center Speaker Series. The event is scheduled for February 21 at 10:30 a.m. CST and will take place at the Rome Center’s historic campus in Palazzo Taverna, Rome. In addition, the speech will be accessible virtually to the U of A’s campus and community members through YouTube.

As a prominent executive in one of Europe’s largest utility companies, Canta oversees a team of 360 financial and insurance managers across more than 20 countries. He has been serving in this capacity since 2014 and is also the chairman of ENEL Finance International and ENEL Finance America. During his talk, Canta will explore the emergence of innovation within an organization and the essential steps towards achieving success in innovation.

The Rome Center Speaker Series includes a variety of talks from renowned international experts covering diverse topics throughout the spring semester. Furthermore, two additional talks will be held this spring at the Rome Center’s location in Rome, Italy, with virtual options available for the wider U of A community.

In other news, U of A Chancellor Robinson has been appointed to the National Merit Scholarship Board of Directors, focusing on academic excellence and student success. Additionally, U of A Law Professor, Amelia S. McGowan, along with a colleague, discussed their work on a comparative asylum law project at the Supreme Court of Argentina. A reception for Meagon Clarkson-Guyll of Fulbright College will be held for her achievements, and the Speech and Debate Society has seen a paw-sitive outcome at the University of Central Arkansas’ Debate Tournament. Moreover, renowned author and activist, Temple Grandin, is set to speak at the Second Annual Nursing Science Day in support of the humane treatment of livestock and autism rights and awareness.
