Revolutionizing Senior Care: Essence SmartCare Leads Innovative Research Project for Independent Aging

The pioneering project known as “INES,” led by Techniker Krankenkasse, is poised to revolutionize senior care in Germany by leveraging advanced remote senior care technology provided by Essence SmartCare. The project’s objective is to showcase how innovative SmartCare emergency detection systems can support independent seniors in aging in place, thus paving the way for a new era in elderly care.

Sponsored by the Innovation Fund and spearheaded by Techniker Krankenkasse, one of Germany’s largest health insurance funds, the INES project, with the collaboration of nine partners, aims to transform the care of independent seniors through the utilization of smart emergency systems. This research study is pivotal in discerning the effectiveness of these systems in enhancing the lives of seniors, particularly as the demographic shift in Germany’s aging population continues to strain traditional care systems.

With Germany’s aging population projected to increase by 37% by 2055, the demand for innovative solutions to support independent living for seniors has become increasingly urgent. The use of advanced telecare solutions, such as Essence SmartCare’s cutting-edge technology, has the potential to address this growing need, positioning the company as a leader in the transformation of elderly care in Germany.

Set to commence in June 2023, the 21-month study will provide nearly 2,000 seniors over the age of 75 living alone in three regions in Germany with Essence’s unique and patented technology, including the AI-enabled MDSense solution and the Voice Extender. These advanced systems are designed to automatically detect falls and provide crucial communication support for seniors, ensuring their safety and well-being within their homes.

Dr. Haim Amir, CEO and Founder of Essence SmartCare, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, remarking, “This marks a significant advance beyond traditional ‘red button’ solutions, and we are honored that our radar fall detection device, MDSense, has been chosen to drive the transformation – playing a crucial role in creating a safer and smarter independent living environment for seniors in a scalable and financially viable manner.”

The company’s radar-based fall detection technology, MDSense, was selected for its unmatched reliability, accuracy, ease of installation, low maintenance, and cost-effectiveness. Coupled with the intelligent extender capabilities of the Voice Extender, Essence SmartCare’s capabilities are further enhanced to offer comprehensive and responsive solutions for the elderly in Germany, empowering them to lead more independent and secure lives.

As Germany grapples with escalating costs associated with providing elderly care, Essence SmartCare has identified an opportunity to significantly contribute to the development of an integrated care infrastructure, empowering individuals to live independently without being overwhelmed by costs. CEO of Essence SmartCare, Karin Schifter-Maor, underscored their dedication to delivering responsive and customizable solutions that preserve the dignity and autonomy of the elderly, positioning the company as a global leader in remote care solutions.

The collaboration between Essence SmartCare and the INES project marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of senior care in Germany, demonstrating the potential for innovation and technology to revolutionize the way in which independent seniors are cared for. As the study unfolds, the impact of advanced remote senior care technology on the lives of independent seniors is poised to be a testament to the transformative power of innovative solutions in healthcare.
