Access, in conjunction with the NerdzFactory Foundation, has successfully completed the Women Digital Entrepreneurship Programme (WDEP) 3.0, providing vital skills and resources to 500 Nigerian women. The programme, which ran from January 15 to February 9, 2024, sought to address the pressing need to empower women in the rapidly evolving digital business sphere.
The comprehensive modules of WDEP 3.0 encompassed a variety of essential topics, such as establishing online businesses, identifying digital business opportunities, customer acquisition strategies, social media marketing, fundraising, and efficient bookkeeping. Through a series of interactive webinars, boot camps, and a culminating summit/pitch competition, participants acquired practical knowledge, skills, grants, and resources to launch and expand their online businesses.
Ade Olowojoba, the Managing Director of NerdzFactory Foundation, underscored the extensive economic implications of empowering women in the digital economy. He stressed that by providing women with the necessary tools for success, the programme is not only transforming individual lives but also playing a crucial role in driving Nigeria’s growth and development. Olowojoba also highlighted the cascading effect of empowered women in significantly contributing to the creation of a stronger, more resilient society.
The summit, a crucial aspect of the programme, featured key stakeholders and successful entrepreneurs sharing insights on women’s business growth and support. It culminated in a pitch/grant competition, where the top three ideas/pitches from the boot camp participants received prizes to bolster their businesses.
In conclusion, the initiative by Access and the NerdzFactory Foundation demonstrates a steadfast commitment to effecting positive change, fostering entrepreneurship, and contributing to the development of a more inclusive and resilient digital economy in Nigeria. By equipping women with the skills and resources needed for success in the digital landscape, WDEP 3.0 serves as a catalyst for transformative growth at both the individual and societal levels.
