Revolutionising Global Trade: The World Economic Forum to Explore Cutting-Edge Technologies at MC13

The forthcoming TradeTech Forum 2024, held in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Economy and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, is poised to convene a diverse array of prominent figures to deliberate on the integration of cutting-edge technologies in the realm of trade. The objective of this pivotal event is to spearhead a paradigm shift in global trade by piloting novel technologies and exploring innovative policy and business models.

Recognising the imperative need for the infusion of new technologies to invigorate trade, Børge Brende, the President of the World Economic Forum, has underscored the significance of this endeavour. The upcoming TradeTech Forum is envisioned to build on the traction gained at the Forum’s Annual Meeting 2024 in Davos, where strategies for the modernisation of the trade system were meticulously deliberated upon.

The programme of the TradeTech Forum will encompass panel discussions and roundtables that will delve into the ways in which technology can foster a more sustainable, inclusive, and development-oriented trade environment. The primary focus will be on how technology can aid companies in navigating and adhering to new regulatory and consumer requisites, as well as streamlining trade processes in developing economies and addressing trade finance gaps, particularly for small businesses.

In consonance with the objectives of MC13, the TradeTech Forum aims to effectuate the expeditious advancement of trade reforms through the collaborative endeavours of the public and private sectors. The event will also feature a TradeTech Fair to showcase innovative trade solutions and collaborative initiatives aimed at surmounting obstacles to the global scalability of new trade technologies.

Accredited members of the media at MC13 are cordially invited to participate in the sessions, with the opening plenary to be open to both the media and the populace on 27th February at 09:30.

Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Chair of MC13, has emphasised the potential of technology to positively impact every facet of global supply chains, empowering smaller nations and SMEs to engage in the global trading system equitably and securely. He has accentuated that the TradeTech Forum will serve as a platform for global trade leaders to collectively mould the future of global trade through insightful discussions and exploration of areas of collaboration.

The programme of the TradeTech Forum will encompass a spectrum of topics, from fortifying the TradeTech ecosystem to the role of international policies in propelling inclusive and sustainable trade through technology. The highlight of the event will be the discussions and workshops designed to usher in a new era of global trade that is smarter, cleaner, and more inclusive.
