Celebrating Dr. Camille Lewis: An Exceptional Leader in Technology

Dr. Camille Lewis, a distinguished technology leader hailing from Grenada, was recently celebrated at the 38th Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) in Baltimore, Maryland. The BEYA Awards epitomize the exceptional achievements of technology professionals who are significantly impacting the field.

Dr. Lewis was honoured as a Modern-Day Technology Leader for her outstanding work spanning over 15 years at Lockheed Martin (LM). Her remarkable contributions have garnered widespread recognition, leading to her second three-year tenure as an LM Fellow, an esteemed designation reserved for exemplary employees who have emerged as thought leaders within the organization.

The award was bestowed upon Dr. Lewis at the BEYA’s Technology Recognition Event by Ms. Tanya Spencer, Chief Diversity Officer, GE Gas Power/GE Vernova. The event, sponsored by industry-leading companies such as Amazon, Ford Motor Company, and HP, was hosted by Lockheed Martin, US Black Engineer & IT Magazine, and The Council of Engineering Deans of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Lewis expressed her profound gratitude, stating, “I am truly honoured to receive this prestigious BEYA award. I am inspired to continue driving technological innovation and ensuring that minority communities are meaningfully engaged in the process. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me along my journey, including my family, teachers, mentors, and colleagues at Lockheed Martin.”

Dr. Lewis’ accomplishments extend beyond this recent recognition. In 2018, she was inducted into the US National Academy of Engineering and was listed among the top 100 engineers in the US. Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Computational and Applied Mathematics, an MS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Arkansas, and a BS in Mathematics with a Minor in Physics from Midwestern State University. She is also a proud alumna of St. Joseph’s Convent in St. Georges, Grenada.

Her journey from her formative years in Grenada to attaining eminence as a distinguished technology leader is undeniably inspiring. Dr. Lewis attributes her passion for Math and Science to her teachers in Grenada, acknowledges her college professors for their unwavering support, and expresses gratitude to her mentors and senior executives at Lockheed Martin for their guidance and backing.
