Here’s a look at some of the positions currently open for application:

Ministry of Justice – Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody Member
This panel operates as a non-departmental public body under the Ministry of Justice and its primary mandate involves providing independent advice and insight to Ministers and senior leaders of operational services on reducing the number and rate of deaths in custody. They are currently seeking individuals to join the panel, with a time commitment of 36 days per annum and a remuneration of £10,000 per annum. The application deadline is 4th March 2024.

Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology – Executive Chair of the Science and Technology Facilities Council
An opportunity for an inspirational leader with international standing, scientific credibility, and proven leadership skills to serve as the next Executive Chair of the Science and Technology Facilities Council. The successful candidate will oversee a diverse team and manage state-of-the-art science facilities across the UK. The role also involves developing and delivering the UK’s research and innovation infrastructure roadmap. This is a 3-year term position, and applicants have until 6th March 2024 to apply.

Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology – Chair of Met Office
The Met Office, a vital national meteorological service in the UK, is seeking a Chair to provide strategic leadership and advise on the organization’s overall performance. The successful candidate will work closely with the full-time Chief Executive and help the organization fulfill its mission of providing world-leading weather and climate science and services. The remuneration for this position is £35,000 per annum, and the deadline for applications is 11th March 2024.

Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs – Appointment of three new independent members to the Adaptation Committee of the Climate Change Committee
Individuals passionate about climate change impact mitigation are invited to apply for these positions, which involve advising the UK government and devolved governments on assessment of climate change risks and opportunities. The remuneration is set at £550 per day, with a time commitment of 12 days per annum. Application deadline is 17th March 2024.

Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology – Met Office Audit and Risk Assurance Committee Chair and Non-Executive Director (x2)
This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals with senior strategic level experience from either the public or private sector to serve as Non-Executive Directors on the Met Office Board. Specific responsibilities as Audit and Risk Assurance Committee Chair are also expected. The annual remuneration ranges from £15,000 to £29,999, and the deadline for applications is 18th March 2024.

Department for Culture, Media, and Sport – Tate Gallery Trustees (x4)
Tate, well-known for its national Collection of British art and international modern and contemporary art, is looking to appoint four new Trustees. These roles include an Artist trustee, Commercial and Media trustee, Youth Engagement trustee, and a Commercial/Business/Property trustee. The remuneration for these roles is taxable and the application deadline is set for 26th March 2024.
