Bechtel has recently announced a pioneering collaboration with the Warsaw University of Technology to establish a career development program aimed at nurturing the next generation of nuclear energy professionals in Poland. This partnership comes at a critical juncture as Poland prepares to embark on the construction of its inaugural nuclear power plant in Choczewo, Pomeranian municipality.
The alliance between Bechtel and Warsaw University of Technology will leverage the expertise and knowledge of both parties to equip students and graduates with the essential skills and training for a career in the field of nuclear energy. Bechtel, drawing upon its extensive experience in the nuclear industry, will aid the University in designing a nuclear-specific curriculum that aligns with the company’s expertise. Furthermore, Bechtel professionals will deliver training courses for the university’s teaching staff.
Leszek Hołda, President of Bechtel Poland, conveyed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to contribute towards the development and training of Poland’s future nuclear power workforce. The partnership has garnered admiration from Professor Adam Kisiel, Plenipotentiary of the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology for Nuclear Energy, who underscored the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and industry leaders in nurturing a well-prepared workforce for the nuclear power sector.
As part of the program, Bechtel will provide support for local internships and collaborate with Warsaw University of Technology to establish scholarship programs. The initiative will also encompass various activities such as co-organized competitions, workshops, and research efforts aimed at advancing the nuclear power industry in Poland.
With 70 years of experience in the nuclear industry, Bechtel has played a pivotal role in delivering clean energy by constructing 150 nuclear plants worldwide, contributing over 76,000 megawatts of new nuclear generation capacity. The company’s current portfolio includes large scale reactors like Plant Vogtle, as well as small modular reactors/advance reactors such as the Natrium Advanced Demonstration Reactor in the U.S.
